I’ll never forget the day I almost lost my siste

I’ll never forget the day I almost lost my sister. It was an ordinary Tuesday and my children were watching kids shows while I was getting ready for the day. It wasn’t until we arrived at the local library for reading hour that I first learned it was no ordinary day at all. The ladies were glued to the television and I soon realized what had happened. Then panic struck because my sister worked on one of the top floors of the first tower. While a librarian looked after my children I frantically called family to see if she was okay. Oddly, I had lost my voice that day and could hardly speak above a whisper but I was awash with relief to hear that she was alive. She had missed the bus that morning and was late getting to work, riding the elevator up to her office when the fist plane struck the building. When the elevator lurched to a stop and the doors opened mid-floor, she didn’t hesitate to escape. Earlier this summer all of us girls got to celebrate her birthday together. 💕

Twenty years ago I didn’t know what I almost lost because I wasn’t aware of the terror that was happening at first. Today we are losing the very freedoms we held dearly that day because of terror from our own government. And no one is unaware. Yet many have succumbed to fear. Fear of illnesses we can hardly control and fear of losing our comfortable lives if we stand up and speak up. In an effort to stay safe we will lose everything.

My voice is small in this great big world but as long as I have voice I will speak against the evil in this world. I will not live by lies, but will speak truth. I will not give way to fear, but will speak hope. I will continue to cultivate beauty and faithfulness, and share it with those who are weary and in need of rest. I will live free.

Sunflowers galore! 🌻The flower stand is fully stocked with sunflowers today but if you want some, don’t delay. The storm this week wiped out thousands of sunflowers so there will be slim pickin’s for a few weeks until our young plants have time to mature and bloom.

It’s a picture perfect day on the farm. Come take a stroll among the gorgeous blooms, breathe the fresh country air, or sit a spell and enjoy the views.

In addition to oodles of sunflowers, we also have mixed bouquets, heirloom garlic, sweet onions, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, and jalapeños, and all-natural hand-poured beeswax candles.
